The IMMortal meeting was cancelled for this week. Instead, our executress
Darii commanded all of the IMMortals to disperse throughout the land and
with single-mindedness of purpose spend time concentrate on HAVING FUN!
The impish expression on Darii's f ace frightened me a little (have you
ever seen the Godfather movies? And SHE is THE Godmother! Yikes!), but
with a light heart and exercising all the laws of thermodynamics; I
applied myself to the job at hand.
"Oh, one more thing...be sure to report back to me on what you did..." The
Godmother said.
Darii, here's my report:
1. I instantly left to get Butter Pecan Ice Cream (BPIC). How could I
possibly have enough energy to have FUN without BPIC?
2. Returned home, fired up the computer, entered the game, and had a bowl
of BPIC. So far, so good. I'm having fun.
3. My wife is channel surfing and runs across a west coast Atlanta Braves
game! Now I'm playing the game, eating BPIC, AND watching the Braves doink
the Dodgers. Ba-Bay! The feeling is starting to return in my
extermities....FUN!
4. My grand daughter curls up on my lap and smiles interestedly at every
move I make. Even though I know she is charming me for my BPIC, I still
love it. I'm playing the game, sharing BPIC with Alonna, watching the
Braves butcher the Dodgers, and cuddli ng a two and half year old
representation of all that's sweetness and light. Thanks Darii! This is
Great!
5. Our faithful Beagle begins to lick my toes. I'm guessing that Alonna
has dripped BPIC on them, but so much is happening I can't spare a glance,
and besides.... attention from Man's Best Friend is always welcome....even
though it tickled and made me gig gle like a madman. Playing the game,
sharing BPIC with everyone it seems, cheering the Braves on to victory,
hugging Alonna, and giggling maniacally.
6. My parents arrive from two states away! They've come for my grandson's
first birthday! I offer them a bowl of BPIC, and consider whether or not
to make a run for provisions. We're running low on the essentials:
Twinkies, Pepsi Cola, and BPIC. Playing the game, sharing BPIC with anyone
who doesn't gag when I shove a bowl in their hands, loving the way the
Braves are playing tonight, wiping the BPIC from Alonna's mouth, chin,
ears, belly, legs, etc, giggling, and happily hugging and conversing with
my parents.
7. There is a limit to how much fun anyone can enjoy. Sometime around
midnight I reached my limit, gave everyone a sloppy kiss g'nite, and woke
up this morning in the middle of our cozy bed.

2. How to deal with rude and inconsiderate groupies by Phi
________________________________
Tanks (or Group Leader) - You should politely confront the groupie with
the action that you deem rude and/or inconsiderate. If they still act in
that way, ask again. If they continue to ignore your requests, finish the
run, then during regen, either ask them to leave, or cease their behavior
if it truly offends you. In many cases asking a groupie to stop acting in
a rude/inconsiderate manner will work, however there are some hard-headed
people out there, just as there are in the real world. If The groupie
won't cease, or leave voluntarily, I'm sorry to say, but you only have two
choices, ungroup the person (by typing group "charname"), or put up with
their harsh behavior. >From what I've seen, a slow moving nice talkative
group is always more efficient than having a group with one very rude
and/or inconsiderate person. You get to talk more, learn about one
another, and sometimes, become friends.
Groupies- If you feel that a person in the group that you're in is being
rude, then you should either politely ask in the group if they could stop
acting in that way, or ask the leader if he/she/it could do something
about it. In most cases if you are polite about this the leader will be
glad to take care of it, I know I would. If the leader, and the groupie do
not take care of it, then you too will either have to put up with the
behavior, or leave the group. I know that at low-mort it is hard to find
new groups, however, it's either that, or be ignored.
Rude and/or inconsiderate- Yes you can be rude, and behave however you
want. Just ask yourself...would you want others to treat you like you're
treating them?
[Ed: Last advice... If you have a rude/inconsiderate groupie, don't stoop
to being rude/inconsiderate yourself. Talk it out privately and don't
castigate other players publicly. If NOTHING seems to work, contact an
Angel or IMMortal privately. - Diz]

4. How-To Guide to Enchanting: By Cor
________________________________
Enchanting. It's one of my favorite past-times on Avatar, yet few people
actually know the strains and stresses of enchanting, how taxing it is on
the enchanter, etc. So, here is a short guide to help you enchant items.
Low-Mort: At low-mort, currently only two classes get enchant weapon and
enchant armor. These are: Mage and Cleric. A mage will get them at level
24, and a cleric will get them in their 40's. Generally costs about 100
mana per enchant, less any racial bonuses you might get (Strut Sprite).
Basically what enchanting an item does, is it makes it more effective
while raising the level of the item, and changing the alignment to that of
the caster. When enchanting an item it can do one of 5 different things.
Enchant normally, enchant brilliantly , nothing, fade, and
evaporate/explode.
Armor: A normal enchant on armor raises the level by 1, and lowers the ac
by -2. A brilliant enchant on armor raises the level by 1, and lowers the
ac by -3. Nothing, well. it does nothing (gee)
Fading armor removes all enchants, raises the level by 1, but also removes
all alignment/magic/invis flags on that item (favorable for
flipped-alignment gear) Evaporating/exploding does just that, destroys the
item.
Weapons: A normal enchant on a weapon raises the level by 2, and increases
it's hit/dam rolls by 1 each. * A brilliant enchant on a weapon raises the
level by 2, and increases it's hit/dam rolls by 2 each. * Fading, nothing,
and exploding are the same for weapons. * hero weapons only raise 1 level.
Now, some things that help you enchant (or fade, if that's your goal) are
high intellect, low intellect, and lots of mana. People have said to me,
'Cor, int doesn't affect enchanting.' but I've spent a long time
enchanting, and I've found that intellect d oes help your enchanting
abilities. Ever so slightly. With higher intellect, you're slightly more
likely to brill an item. With lower intellect, you're slightly more likely
to fade an item. So, some of the best enchanters are high intellect
characters, bu t this isn't always the case. I've seen an orc warrior
triple brill a weapon before, and a sprite mage triple fade then vape some
armor. It does happen, and sometimes it is random. Some high intellect
races are sprites, elves, gnomes, drow, dragons and deep gnomes. Sprites
and Dragons both get 28 intellect with items, but that can cause a
problem, too. ;) The most difficult time you'll have while enchanting is
when the item already has a modifier. I'll use my personal favorite
example in this. Object 'citrine breastplate' type armor, extra flags glow
magic nodrop anti-evil anti-neutral noremove.
Weight 5, value 25500, level 51.
Armor class is 12.
Modifies hp by 50 continuous.
Modifies armor class by -50 continuous.
The citrine breastplate has a high AC modifier, so it makes it tougher to
enchant. *Muted* 262/262 1247/1647 577/726 1027 -/-
c 'enchant armor' citrine
A citrine breastplate glows brightly, then fades...oops.
*Muted* 262/262 1173/1647 691/726 1027 -/- followed by 'Nothing seems to
happen.' several times. Same thing applies with weapons, you can get lucky
and get a few brills on a few items with high mods, but be prepared to
replace them when you've blown up your last set ;) And last, the most
important rule when enchanting. Do it in pairs!
If you want to have a really high enchanted sword, get two and enchant
both of them at the same time. That way, if you break/destroy/fade one,
hey, you'll still have that other high one. (Wow, I'm really starting to
get long-winded) Cor! :) Enjoy your enchanting

5. Complaint Form 1 : Class Complaint by Rai
________________________________
Dear sir or madam,
I wish to complain about the __________ class. I fear we are far to
underpowered, especially when compared to __________. I mean, we only
have ___ class definers! How can you expect us to compete, when other
classes such as __________ have as many as ____ definers?
I propose the following, give _________ the following class definers,
all at level ____ :
1: _________ which would allow us to heal up to _____ hp per round for
_____ mana.
2: _____________ which would allow us to ignore _____ rounds of lag when
attempting to _____________.
3: __________ which would act as the skill ________ that _________ have.
In addition to these class definers, I feel that we should also get the
following increases to gains :
1. A minimum of ____ hp's per level. After all, a ______ certainly
deserves more hit points than a ________!
2. A minimum of _____ mana per level. Especially since our new class
definer, _________ will now require mana.
I do hope that you will take this note into consideration when doing the
revamp for ________. I mean come on! The ________ class has already
gotten _____ revamps! While poor little ________ have to sit and wait.
Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely,
__________ the ___________.
