For the consideration of the web team:
Some hyperlinks are the same color as the surrounding text, making them quite dificult to see. For example, the Compendia section has these types of links.
Could you host the help file library online, like the old web site used to do a long while ago?
Unless I'm not seeing it, there should be a way to view threads in order of oldest to newest.
The states of the collapsable panels on the left should transfer from page to page.
Also, unless I'm missing it, there is no indicator saying how long the server has been up/down.
I will try to continue looking for improvements, but I'm quite tired right now. Good night and good coding, all.

The links are not the 'same' color, they are lighter - but perhaps that's not different enough. Will discuss.
The help file library is a different issue - the major problem is that it has to be extracted before it can be hosted, as reading it live is not an option, and currently there is no tool that will extract and drop the helps into a format that will look proper in the new page structure. With some modification, the tool that did it on the old page might produce acceptable output, and it's certainly something to be looked into.
Unless I'm not seeing it, there should be a way to view threads in order of oldest to newest.
You're not the first person to want to see forums in reverse order from the way they are currently set. I'll set a poll for it, if the majority wants it oldest first, we'll set it back. Otherwise, a toggle is in the works and will satisfy everyone.
The states of the collapsible panels on the left will eventually transfer from page to page.
There is no indicator for the server downtime because the web server is in the same physical location, on the same net as the server.. so if the game is down, the page will be, also. We've discussed some remedies, and you will be posted.

Ok, so I think I misinterpreted the poll.
On normal forums (by normal I would mean all 10 forums I used to frequent)
-topics were sorted so that the topic with the newest reply is on top.
-inside topics, the oldest note would be at the top.
This is because the most active topic should be on top, and the individual contents of each topic should be in chronological order. Like everywhere else.
The only places that keep newest posts on top, are BLog pages.
Anyhow, I voted wrong on the poll, because I misinterpreted the word posts.
..at least, I think I misinterpreted. The posts in the poll, are those the threads, or the replies inside those threads? |

That's an opinion, hence the poll.
Many of the reasons Avatar remains the game of choice for many players is because we allow the players a choice, within parameters.. not all things are done the way they are everywhere else!
The posts in the poll, are those the threads, or the replies inside those threads?
I reworded the question again, hopefully it makes more sense now. In case it is still confusing: threads are made up of posts; only those posts that follow the original can properly be referred to as replies.

with eye strain, too.
so it flows properly with the rest of the layout? It would help a lot
the option to display the posts' actual text from bottom to top as well,
If the "newest on top" format is chosen, can we at least also have

Another type of suggestion totally unrelated to the things mentioned below/above
I received a PM and an notification in my email about it.
The name it was sent from appeared as 'webmaster' and the subject was something rather vague as well, making me think that it was spam at first.
Perhaps change the name to Avatar Webmaster or something like that?
Not sure what the subject could be..
but in general, make it noticeable that it is from Avatar. |

yeah, seems to be a necessary thing. I also would actually like the email to include the text of the pm, or at least who sent the pm. We will have to look at that.

our plan is to allow users to set their own default order and collapse state of the side panels. if you change these panel states while browsing it will not transfer from page to page, but it will be the state that you have chosen.
Doing this needs a number of modfications and additions. It might be a few weeks until we get around to that. |

Alright, I understand the poll now. And I'd like to see another poll, one for the order that replies should be in.
If that's not too much of a problem, I'd love to see that poll. |

I agree, I actually thought the poll was about the replies.
Most discussion threads read top to bottom. It's strange to buck convention at this point... |

I misinterpreted this poll just as you did, Llanor, and also voted the wrong way by mistake.
This message was brought to you by Dave Garber (a.k.a. Stealthhoofs, Arrowflinger, Thunderhoofs, Brainstormer, Skyrider, Gesundheit, Dragonzerker, Dracopaladin, Dracowarlock, Dragonshaman, Woodsy, and Yaxche). |

Yeah me too.
I read the poll to mean 'replies' oldest at top, newest to the bottom
For threads themselves, the newest should be at the top imo

oldest on top is now default, but everyone can change in their user profile to view with newest on top if prefered. Hopefully that solves the issue Pulse |
